After the Election

After the Election

About ShareProgress

It’s been one week, and it still hasn’t quite sunk in.

We had an election night that didn’t end until the early hours of the morning, constant analysis and re-analysis from pundits, and then an outcome that seemed like it should’ve just been a distant, impossible nightmare.

There aren’t words for what happens when the hateful force you’ve fought against for the entire election cycle wins big, and wins unexpectedly. It’s some combination of getting the wind knocked out of you, mixed with a sucker punch, with a heaping dose of fear on top. Fear for family and friends, fear for the future, and fear for the country we thought we knew.

Here at ShareProgress, we had to take a moment. All of us were confused, sad, angry–trying to process what had happened and understand where we go from here.

Day by day, step by step, we’re working to regain our strength for the countless battles ahead. For each of us, and for each of you, those battles may look different than before. In this new and scary age of greater uncertainty, I can commit to two simple things: (1) we will continue our fight for a more just and more equal country, both as a company and as individual progressives; and (2) whenever you need us, we’ll be there on the front lines with you.

In solidarity and resistance,
Jim
